Like Radical Terms
You have already learned how to recognize like terms. These are terms that
have the same variables raised to the same power. For example, 2x and 3x
are like terms.
Like radical terms are terms whose radical parts have the same index and
and the same radicand.
Example 1
Identify the like radical terms:
Solution
 are like radical terms.
Each radical has index 2 and radicand 6.
 ,are like radical terms.
Each radical has index 3 and radicand 6.
 is not “like†any of the other radicals.
Example 2
Identify the like radical terms:
Solution
 are like radical terms.
Each radical has index 3 and radicand of 15.
 has radicand 5.
Neither of these terms is “like†any of the other radical expressions.
